PIPE COATING IN CALGARY, ALBERTA

Corrosion is one of the leading causes of gas, oil and water pipeline failure. It can lead to everything from minor leaks to large explosions. Therefore, high-quality pipe coatings are a must. At Advanced Flow Systems/Advanced Bending Technologies, we can apply a wide variety of pipe coatings from industry-leading brands like Denso, SPC, LifeLast and Carboline to help maintain your pipe’s integrity. Contact us today for more information.

Types of pipe coatings

Today, pipe coatings have evolved from basic, single-material products like coal tar and asphalt. They’re now made with plural component epoxies consisting of polyurethane and polyurea, 100% solids by volume (SBV).

Solids by volume (SBV) plural-component epoxies are coatings composed of two functional components: a resin/epoxy and a catalyst, which make up the fast-set coating formed during the reaction.

The coatings that Advanced Flow Systems/Advanced Bending Technologies uses are hybrid, polymer blends that provide long-term corrosion and cathodic disbondment resistance, while also creating a tough outer layer to protect the pipe against physical impacts. They also have excellent resistance to water and electricity and provide in-ground protection against chemicals and abrasive soil conditions.

We also carry pipe coatings with thermal insulation and fire-resistant properties, depending on the needs of your operations.

The benefits of interior pipe coating

On top of protecting pipelines from corrosion, pipe coatings offer the following benefits:

  • They enhance flow capacity
  • They extend the pipe’s lifespan
  • They promote clean delivery of the product
  • They prevent deposit formation

The team at Advanced Flow Systems/Advanced Bending Technologies will carefully analyze the needs of your operation to ensure you get the longest-lasting pipe coating on the market.

NACE certified pipe coating in Alberta

At AdvanTec, we prioritize quality control so that your assets are protected. That’s why the pipe coating inspectors at Advanced Flow Systems and Advanced Bending Technologies undergo extensive training and are certified by the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP).

In 2021, the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) joined forces with the Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) to create the AMPP. Today, the AMPP is the world’s leading organization to certify and train corrosion engineers. It’s the most widely recognized trade association of corrosion inspectors, ensuring industry standards in the coating inspection industry.

Advanced Flow Systems and Advanced Bending Technologies employ only AMPP-certified inspectors in Alberta. Besides certifying and training, the AMPP enforces industry standards and takes a standardized approach to corrosion inspection and prevention. Our inspectors are Level 1 and 2 AMPP certified, with an average loyalty of more than nine years at our manufacturing facilities in Alberta and B.C.

Benefits of AMPP/NACE certification

Corrosion is the most significant danger to your pipes and the most common cause of failure requiring costly shutdowns and repairs. Before we apply our coatings, we’ll conduct a thorough analysis to identify potential failure points and create a custom corrosion control system to meet your structure’s specific needs.

AMPP certification gives our technicians the ability to:

  • Remove faulty coatings
  • Adequately prep surfaces
  • Apply new coatings for maximum protection
  • Use the best substrate profile for blasting

Furthermore, all production and manufacturing phases are carried out within our industrial group to ensure we meet every delivery milestone for your project. Working in this controlled environment eliminates outsourcing delays and allows us to offer real-time production inspections. Our process gives us the agility to make changes quickly without delay.

After the project is delivered, AMPP inspectors can conduct regular inspections to identify degradation and corrosion using specialized testing techniques. This process will determine if new coatings should be applied or if the old ones should be removed first. This monitoring ensures that your assets will last for years to come.
